Thief Guide: Maximise Your Loot :A beginners guide for getting the maximum gold
A good thief is often measured by the amount of gold they can steal and get away with undetected. So how do you go about maximising the amount of gold that ends up in your pocket? Read on and learn some helpful tips for those about to start their Thief journey.
Gold is essential to show off but it is vital for purchasing focus points. These points stand as upgrades for the master thief, Garrett, the main character of the title. Unlocking skills will advance Garrett from an amazing thief to an epic one.
Intuition I & II
While a number of aspects can be upgraded, there are only a select few that can actually help the players to gain more gold, thus more points, throughout the game. Two of these skills come under the Intuition skill. Both I & II will help gamers locate ample amounts of loot. The first point Intuition I will make focus mode highlight elements of the environment, with loot becoming a bright blue. Intuition II furthers this by adding hand prints that glow in blue, similar to the loot, around levels. These hand prints give away the locations of hidden loot.
As a plus point, the first Intuition point will also enable dangers to be highlighted. Like loot dangers are highlighted when in focus mode but are illuminated in red. This won’t help players get loot but may aid players getting to it stealthily.
Dexterity I
Dexterity I will not help you gain extra loot but instead obtain loot with less chance of being spotted. Guards will occasionally have two satchels located on their person. Using Dexterity, you will be able to pickpocket multiple items from a single person in one swift steal. The chance of being spotted will often dissuade players from attempting a pickpocket, so any help or an edge on the guards is an opportunity not to be missed.
Focus Spotting
Guards with loot will handily have it in a satchel on their back. Once the Intuition focus points have been purchased, players have the ability of spotting loot from a distance. Use focus mode to clearly see if a guard has a satchel to steal from. Simply, this will save you countless attempts of sneaking up close, only to be disappointed. The importance of this is that you can often see if a guard has loot even if they are facing towards you.
Sleeping Guards
They may be asleep when you start lock picking but fail and the loud clicking will give you away! Apart from being careful when lock picking close to sleeping guards, there are things you can do to make your life easier. If possible, before picking a lock remove light sources. If guards are woken they will occasionally make a dozy comment about it not being worth losing sleep before once again dozing off. This will allow you a simple re-try. Note that this does not happen every time: some guards will sense danger and seek you out even in the dark.
Double Trouble
Never attempt to steal from two guards at once as it will simply not end well for you. Just remember that bottles are your friend. Throw a bottle as a distraction to get two guards to separate then stealth in a steal from them separately. It is possible to further increase your chances by using water arrows to extinguish torches or fires. The guards will be unable to see you coming and it takes one guard out of the equation while he relights the local light source.
Hopefully these basic tips will help budding thieves to earn more loot throughout their Thief journey. Remember to unlock extra focus points, you will have to earn increasingly more gold, so this will help players become the ultimate silent stealer!
